Located at 395 Stirling Highway, Claremont, Stratos Dermatology has opened its doors within a charming single-storey Interwar California Bungalow.
Rather than overworking the existing shell, TKO’s approach focused on working with the building’s original proportions and detailing. The interior already carried warmth and personality, so the design intent was to integrate new clinical functionality with minimal structural disruption, while ensuring the joinery and finishes aligned seamlessly with the Stratos Dermatology brand.
A key addition to the layout was the incorporation of a dedicated phototherapy suite positioned toward the rear of the building. This includes two full-body phototherapy machines and one hands-and-feet unit, supported by purpose-built changing spaces to ensure patient comfort, privacy, and operational efficiency.
To accommodate the client’s requirement for five private consultation rooms, a new wall was constructed and fitted with doors framed to match the building’s existing character details.
Custom joinery was designed for each consult room, featuring durable acrylic benchtops selected for hygiene and ease of maintenance. Cabinetry in a light grey timber texture reflects the clinic’s brand palette, creating a calm and professional atmosphere. Above-bench stone grey basins paired with copper mixers introduce a subtle warmth and refinement, balancing the clinical requirements with a welcoming aesthetic.
The waiting area furniture, thoughtfully selected by the client, complements the overall material palette and reinforces the cohesive identity of the space.
The result is a dermatology clinic that honours the heritage character of the building while delivering a contemporary, functional environment tailored to specialist care.
